EU Battery Passport: prepare for 18 February 2027.
Article 77 creates an electronic battery-passport requirement for defined battery categories placed on the EU market or put into service from that date.
Concrete date: from 18 February 2027, each LMT battery, each EV battery and each industrial battery with capacity greater than 2 kWh must have a battery passport.

What should companies prepare?
The Regulation requires information relating to the battery model and information specific to the individual battery. Annex XIII specifies the information categories and different access levels.
Identifiers
Plan unique battery identification and how the data carrier links to the electronic record.
Data ownership
Decide who supplies, validates and updates model-level and individual-battery information.
Lifecycle
Design for information that may change during use, repair, repurposing or end-of-life processes.
