What is a Digital Product Passport?
A DPP is a set of product-specific data accessible electronically through a data carrier, with exact information determined by applicable product rules.
Does every product need a DPP now?
No. ESPR creates the framework, while product-specific delegated acts determine scope and timing. Separate legislation can also create passport obligations.
Is a QR code enough?
No. A QR code can be a data carrier, but DPP also depends on identifiers, required data, access rules and storage.
What is the DPP Registry?
The EU Registry is a central registration layer for DPP identifiers and metadata while passport content follows a decentralised model.
When does the Battery Passport apply?
From 18 February 2027 for LMT batteries, EV batteries and industrial batteries above 2 kWh under Article 77 of the EU Battery Regulation.
What is DPP vs ESPR?
ESPR is the EU regulatory framework; DPP is one mechanism for making product-specific information digitally accessible.
